A 10-member expert group organized by the China Earthquake Administration departed for Venezuela on August 6 to conduct a 20-day seismic scientific expedition, returning home on August 25 after completing their mission 1. This expedition was launched following a magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 25 1. It marks the first activity of the Seismic Expedition Committee of the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior, as well as the China Earthquake Administration's first initiative to send researchers to a Latin American country for seismic scientific research 1.
