The National Rugby League (NRL) has approved a special rule exemption to allow 31-year-old South Sydney Rabbitohs veteran Jai Arrow to reach his 100th club game milestone 1. Arrow had previously retired after being diagnosed with motor neuron disease in May 1. Under an agreement between the NRL and the club, Arrow will be listed as an extra player with an additional interchange for the Rabbitohs' matches against the Gold Coast Titans and the Sydney Roosters 1.
To achieve the milestone during his 99th and 100th club games, Arrow will be brought on as the team's first interchange just seconds after the opening siren and will not participate in actual play 1. This special arrangement will bring his total NRL career appearances to 180 games, including exactly 100 for the Rabbitohs 1. Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V’landys praised the decision, stating that the move demonstrates the true spirit of the game 1.
