The M5 Ultra pushes these limits further with up to a 36-core CPU, up to an 80-core GPU, and up to 512GB of unified memory, with the 512GB unified memory version becoming available in late October 2026 1. Connectivity is also modernized, as the new Mac Studio is the first to feature Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 via the N1 chip, alongside Thunderbolt 5 ports delivering up to 120Gb/s bandwidth 1.
The new Mac Studio is heavily optimized for local AI inference and professional workflows 1. In terms of AI capabilities, the M5 Ultra chip achieves performance up to 4.3 times faster than the M3 Ultra and up to 9.8 times faster than the M1 Ultra 1. Additionally, users can cluster four Mac Studio units together to accelerate AI inference speeds by up to three times compared to a single machine 1.
