港大深圳医院此次唇腭裂公益活动由周大福慈善基金会提供资金支持，香港房角石协会资助交通及膳食费用1。今年8月23日，6位来自青海的孩子跨越两千多公里来到深圳1。8月21日上午，港大深圳医院国际医疗中心远程多功能诊疗室首次为这批青海患儿开放线上诊疗1。孩子们抵达后，多学科团队于8月24日启动术前检查；8月25日至26日，港大深圳医院第16届唇腭裂公益活动周手术日开启1。
港大深圳医院自2015年6月起连续举办多届唇腭裂公益诊疗活动1。截至2026年7月，已累计为全国近500名唇腭裂患儿提供免费手术及序列治疗1。活动覆盖广东、新疆、内蒙古、四川、青海等多个省份和自治区，最小受助患儿仅3个多月大1。
Six children with cleft lip and palate from Qinghai province traveled over 2,000 kilometers to Shenzhen on August 23, 2025, to receive multidisciplinary evaluations and charitable surgeries at the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital 1. This event marks the continuation of a nine-year "smile relay" for these patients 1. Children like Xiaohao were born with cleft lip and palate in Qinghai nine years ago and completed their first-stage repair surgeries at over one year of age with the financial support of the Hong Kong Cornerstone Association 1. However, their subsequent treatments were interrupted when the original hospital transitioned into a geriatric facility and no longer undertook cleft lip and palate surgical projects 1.
Wong King-kit, a retired nurse from Hong Kong who served as a volunteer for the original charity event, had been concerned about the children's follow-up treatments for years and successfully facilitated this connection 1. Supported by funding from the Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation and travel and meal subsidies from the Hong Kong Cornerstone Association, the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital opened its remote multi-functional consultation room at the International Medical Center for the first time to provide online consultations for these Qinghai children on the morning of August 21 1. Following this, the multidisciplinary team initiated preoperative examinations on August 24, and the surgical days for the hospital's 16th Cleft Lip and Palate Charity Activity Week commenced from August 25 to 26 1.
The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital has been continuously organizing multiple sessions of such charitable diagnosis and treatment activities since June 2015 1. By July 2026, the program had provided free surgeries and sequential treatments to nearly 500 children with cleft lip and palate nationwide 1. The coverage spans multiple provinces and autonomous regions, including Guangdong, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, and Qinghai, with the youngest recipient being just over three months old 1.
