A 25-year-old woman from Kewarra Beach died in a multi-vehicle collision north of Cairns on Wednesday afternoon, with four others injured and hospitalized as a result of the incident.[1] The crash occurred shortly after 1:15 p.m. and involved a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser that collided head-on with two vehicles.[1] The woman, who was driving a Toyota RAV4, was killed in the impact.[1]
Police revealed that the sequence of events extended beyond the initial collision.[1] According to Chief Superintendent Kevin Fitzgibbon, the case represented "quite a dynamic investigation, essentially involving three separate incidents."[1] Following the head-on collisions, the driver of the stolen Land Cruiser forced the driver of a fourth vehicle to leave the scene.[1] A 36-year-old man was apprehended around 2:15 p.m.[1] Among the four injured parties was a child.[1]
