On August 25, 2025, Deputy Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council Shen Youzhong stated at a symposium in Taipei that the government's consistent policy stance is for cross-strait exchanges to be depoliticized, de-risked, and maintained in a healthy and orderly manner 1. He pointed out that exchanges from mainland China to Taiwan are likely to increase in the second half of the year in response to the upcoming nine-in-one elections 1.
During the event, Shen also addressed a recent disclosure by Taipei City Councilor Lin Liang-jun, who revealed that a civil group had rented the Taipei Confucius Temple to shoot a video suspected of being united front propaganda under the pretext of promoting Confucianism and Hanfu culture 1. Shen stressed that any move by the Chinese Communist Party to utilize culture as an instrument for political united front activities will be firmly refuted 1. He further underscored that the greatest distinction between Taiwan and mainland China lies in their systems 1.
