Jockey Tommy Berry will ride multiple horses at Thursday's Gosford racing meet, with several candidates presenting strong winning prospects for their connections.[1] Forest King, a three-year-old trained jointly by John O'Shea and Tom Charlton, will contest the Steinbok C,G&E Benchmark 64 hurdle race over 1200 metres and represents a standout opportunity.[1] The horse won on debut at Canterbury in February and has earned nomination eligibility for the Group 1 Golden Rose, scheduled for late September at Rosehill.[1] After finishing seventh in the Pago Pago Stakes followed by a spell, Forest King returned to the track with a sixth-place finish in a Rosehill Saturday class race.[1]
Beyond Forest King, Berry will partner several other runners seeking breakthrough performances.[1] Temptation has won both of its trial runs, including a recent outing with Berry in the saddle, making the jump to race day an encouraging step for connections.[1] Iniesta, meanwhile, has recorded three starts without managing a top-three finish so far.[1] Berry will also ride Skyrise at the meeting.[1] The eight-race program at Gosford on Thursday will be contested on a soft track.[2]
