Lawmakers from multiple states have urged federal regulators to police prediction markets that allow betting on destructive wildfires. The senators specifically cited Polymarket, which offered bets on the Los Angeles wildfires in January 2025, as well as another platform that accepts what is described as "simulated betting" on California wildfires.
