Former New South Wales Liberal Party MP Chris Spence has begun giving evidence in the Independent Commission Against Corruption's Operation Rosny investigation, which is examining misconduct within the party's conservative "Reformers" faction 1. During his testimony, Spence launched a scathing attack on a key Reformer member, describing Dylan Whitelaw as "one of the most untrustworthy, lying individuals I have ever met" 2.
Spence alleged that the 25-year-old Whitelaw, who was hired to work in former Planning Minister Anthony Roberts's office in early 2022, held unauthorized meetings with developers while in that junior staff position 2. The former MP also claimed Whitelaw was involved in taking files from the office without permission 2. When questioned during the inquiry, Whitelaw stated he had "zero recollection" of a document compiled regarding then-Police Minister David Elliott 1, marking the second consecutive day that a witness in the Operation Rosny investigation has reported memory gaps on significant matters 1. Spence previously served as the member for The Entrance between 2011 and 2015 2.
