China's Central Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs has recently published two articles in the People's Daily under the pseudonym "Zhong Caiwen" to discuss the nation's economic outlook.1 The first article, released on the 22nd, was titled "The Resilience and Vitality of China's Economy," while the second was headlined "China is an Active Contributor to and a Strong Stabilizing Force for Global Economic Growth."1 Hong Kong media analysts suggest these publications are intended to reassure the public following July's below-expectation economic data and to align expectations and unify strategic direction ahead of the 20th Party Congress Fifth Plenum, scheduled for October.1
The Central Committee had previously published commentary under the "Zhong Caiwen" byline on January 13 of this year.1 In an earlier instance, the People's Daily carried eight consecutive days of commentary signed "Zhong Caiwen" beginning September 30, 2025.1
