European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called for reinforced border defenses after thousands of migrants entered Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta from Morocco.[1] Spain estimates that approximately 69,500 migrants have since returned to Morocco, though the crossing resulted in significant casualties, with 72 deaths recorded on the Spanish side and 11 on the Moroccan side.[1]
