China's Guangdong maritime authorities issued three consecutive navigation warnings over two days concerning military operations and live-fire exercises in the South China Sea.1 A military exercise was scheduled to take place off Maoming City from noon to 8 p.m. on August 23, as announced by the Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration on the evening of August 22.1 Additionally, two separate live-fire drills were announced: one off Hulai County set to run from August 24 to 27, operating daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and another off Zhanjiang City scheduled from August 24 to 28, operating daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.1 These notices were respectively issued by the Guangdong Jieyang Maritime Safety Administration and the Guangdong Zhanjiang Maritime Safety Administration on August 21.1
The three operations cover northern waters of the South China Sea along Guangdong's coast, involving different maritime zones in the province's western and eastern regions.1
