Researchers at University College London's Department of Computer Science have found that commercially available tools designed to detect hidden surveillance equipment are far less effective than marketed, potentially giving domestic abuse victims a dangerous false sense of security.1 The study identified approximately 1,000 covert monitoring products and 500 detection tools being sold in the United Kingdom through platforms including Amazon, AliExpress, and eBay.1
