Members of Britain's Business and Trade Select Committee have called on government ministers to justify why Fujitsu, the company embroiled in the Post Office scandal, was included in four major government procurement frameworks worth over 540 billion pounds.[1] The committee chair, Liam Byrne, has requested a response by August 12.[1]
Fujitsu was included in these frameworks as of July 2026, despite implementing self-imposed restrictions since January 2024 that suspended its bidding for new government contracts.[1] The four frameworks comprise G Cloud 15 valued at 168 billion pounds, Technology Services 4 at 192 billion pounds, Transport Technology at 42 billion pounds, and Digital Outcomes and Specialists 7 at 140 billion pounds.[1] Lawmakers are concerned that the company's inclusion in these frameworks may contradict its voluntary suspension commitment, particularly given reporting that a Fujitsu public sector executive directed staff in April 2024 on how to circumvent the self-imposed ban.[1]
