China's Ministry of Finance is rolling out a comprehensive plan to enhance household consumption as part of efforts to expand domestic demand. Vice Minister Liao Min announced at a State Council Information Office press briefing that the ministry will systematically introduce measures aimed at lifting consumer purchasing power by focusing on employment, income growth, and social security.1
The ministry has already deployed several initiatives to support spending, including a trade-in program for consumer goods, subsidized lending for personal consumption and service sector businesses, and employment creation incentives.1 In the near term, the priority is ensuring these policies take full effect and are implemented swiftly.1 Over the longer horizon, the finance ministry plans to strengthen social protection systems, reform the income distribution mechanism, and leverage tax and transfer payment redistribution to create a more robust foundation for sustained consumer demand.1
