Belgium and the World Health Organization have concluded a three-day strategic dialogue aimed at strengthening their long-term partnership on critical health issues.[1] The talks, held from March 2 to 5, 2025, brought together a Belgian delegation led by H.E. Christophe Payot, Belgium's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, alongside WHO leadership including Assistant Director-General Catharina Boehme and technical experts.[1]
The discussions centered on reinforcing collaboration across universal health coverage, health system strengthening, and equitable access to vaccines, medicines, and health technologies.[1] Both parties identified strategic priorities encompassing health emergencies, pandemic preparedness, and universal health coverage, while establishing a framework for future cooperation that includes the development of a new WHO-Belgium country cooperation strategy.[1] The organizations highlighted the role of market shaping in ensuring the long-term sustainability of medicine access initiatives.[1]
