The World Health Organization is deepening its engagement with philanthropic institutions to bolster health systems worldwide and promote health equity.[1] Speaking at the Philanthropy Asia Summit in Singapore on May 5-7, 2025, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus underscored the vital role of philanthropic support in building more resilient health systems and advancing universal health coverage.[1]
The strategic collaboration aims to expand WHO's donor base and leverage philanthropic investments to strengthen essential health services across countries.[1] In his remarks, Tedros stated: "We look forward to your continued leadership and partnership as we work together to realize WHO's founding vision: the highest attainable standard of health – not as a luxury for some, but a right for all."[1] Singapore and the Temasek Foundation were among the first institutions to commit support to WHO's investment fund.[1]
