A senior female police officer has been released from hospital after sustaining a neck wound during a stabbing incident in Elizabeth East, a suburb north of Adelaide, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.[1] A 27-year-old man from Woodville Gardens charged toward police wielding a large knife; after being shot in the leg by a male officer, he continued his advance and successfully stabbed the senior constable in the neck.[1]
South Australia Police Commissioner Grant Stevens described the suspect's actions, stating that the man "charged at police with a large knife," and following the shooting, he "continued to advance" and "successfully stabbed the senior officer in the neck."[1] The 27-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and remains in custody pending his next hearing scheduled for November.[1] The injured officer has recovered well since her discharge and has received numerous messages of support.[1]
