President Trump announced on Friday that an $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund tied to an Internal Revenue Service settlement is "dead," even as he continued to defend the initiative.[1] The declaration came after Republican Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis threatened to block the confirmation of Trump's attorney general nominee Todd Blanche unless the administration provided written assurances against establishing the fund.[1]
