Shenzhen's Shuibei district is experiencing a comprehensive urban renewal aimed at repositioning the area as a trendy shopping destination rather than merely a wholesale distribution center.[1] The "Shuibei Fashion Design Headquarters Economy Agglomeration Street District Construction Project," overseen by Cuizhu Subdistrict and centered on Beili North Road, is redesigning pedestrian experiences, optimizing traffic flow, and upgrading public facilities.[1] The initiative, which commenced in June 2024, represents a systematic effort by the subdistrict office to facilitate the district's transformation.[1]
The infrastructure improvements are substantial in scope. The project has laid approximately 46,000 square meters of dark granite paving as the foundation and created over 3 kilometers of new non-motorized vehicle lanes, along with more than 2,000 additional parking spaces for bicycles and e-scooters.[1] A particularly significant addition is a 4,070 square-meter parking area beneath the Tianpei Fourth Road elevated bridge, capable of accommodating approximately 3,500 non-motorized vehicles.[1] Additionally, the district has installed six bilingual directional signs reading "China Jewel Capital Shenzhen Shuibei" and updated over 40 public facility signs with bilingual markings.[1] The Shuibei Metro Station's D exit and underground passage have been opened to the public.[1]
Beyond physical infrastructure, Shuibei is leveraging e-commerce platforms to drive consumption. On July 28, Shenzhen hosted the 2026 Gold and Jewelry Industry E-commerce Live Streaming Season launch event at the Shuibei Gold Exhibition Jewelry Plaza.[1] The district is partnering with platforms including Douyin and Taobao to promote specialized livestreaming seasons and is planning a jewelry carnival with a Qixi Festival theme to further establish the area as a fashion consumption destination.[1]
