Major streaming platforms have responded by strengthening their support systems for AI-generated content. Tencent Video updated its revenue-sharing framework in January 2026 to consolidate long-form, mid-form, and short-form dramas into a unified system.[1] Douyin's AI Creation Contest attracted 137,000 participants and generated nearly 200 billion cumulative views, with top prizes reaching 1 million yuan.[1] Red Fruit platform introduced incentive policies offering up to 200,000 yuan in cash rewards for AI-synthesized dramas demonstrating the strongest narrative qualities.[1]
The scale of AI short drama production has become dominant within the industry, with 128,000 short dramas launched domestically during the first quarter, of which 122,000 were AI-generated—accounting for 95 percent of total output.[1]
