The US Senate has voted unanimously to oppose any presidential pardon or clemency for Ghislaine Maxwell, sending a bipartisan message against potential executive action by the Trump administration.[1] The resolution, first introduced in February by Nevada Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen, secured full Senate support on Thursday.[1] While the resolution carries no legal binding power, it represents an explicit public stance by the chamber against any form of executive clemency for Maxwell.
Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 at age 60 following her conviction on charges related to trafficking women and participating in abuse.[1] She faced these charges after the 2019 death of Jeffrey Epstein, in connection with whom she had been implicated.[1] When asked in October about potentially pardoning Maxwell, Trump stated: "I will take a look," and indicated he would consult with the Department of Justice, saying "I don't know anything about this.
