Identity management platform Okta has announced the acquisition of AI security startup Permiso Security for approximately $200 million in an all-cash transaction.[1] The deal is expected to close during Okta's third quarter of fiscal year 2027.[1]
Permiso specializes in identity threat detection and response within cloud environments and has developed the SandyClaw platform to analyze AI agent behavior.[1] The acquisition will expand Okta's capabilities in protecting AI agents and machine identities.[1] Okta's Chief Product Officer Ely Kahn stated: "Permiso will extend Okta's identity security architecture with proven identity threat detection and response capabilities."[1]
Permiso was co-founded by former FireEye executives Paul Nguyen and Jason Martin and launched from stealth mode in 2022.[1] The startup has raised approximately $29 million to date, including an $18.5 million Series A funding round completed in April 2024 at a post-money valuation of approximately $80 million.[1]
