St Paul's newly elected Mayor Kaohly Her faces a formal investigation into sexual harassment allegations, following a complaint filed by Police Chief Axel Henry.[1] Her, who won the mayoral race in 2025 by a narrow margin against incumbent Melvin Carter, is accused of sending inappropriate messages to multiple city employees.[1]
The city has engaged Resolute Law, with attorney Cally Kjellberg-Nelson overseeing an independent inquiry into the allegations.[1] According to a letter dated April 1 from Henry's attorney Chris Madel, Her allegedly initiated a "sustained pattern of harassment."[1] In response, Her stated: "I take seriously my responsibility to treat every employee with professionalism and respect," acknowledging that some attempts at humor fell short of expected standards and pledging to cooperate with the investigation.[1]
Her, 53, arrived in the United States at age three as part of the post-Vietnam War refugee resettlement program and became St Paul's first female mayor.[1]
