A Queensland court has signaled that the scheduled trial for a man accused of three murders in a fatal 2023 crash may be postponed by at least a year.[1] Rafferty Raymond Rolfe faces three charges related to family violence homicide stemming from the June 21, 2023 incident on Bruce Highway near Federal, Queensland.[1] The victims were Terry Bishop, 65, Gypsy Satterley, 25, and Jessica Townley, 38.[1]
The trial, originally set to commence on February 1, 2027 and run for four weeks, is now in jeopardy due to the lead prosecutor's absence on health grounds.[1] The lead counsel for the prosecution is not expected to return to work before August 28.[1] Judge Lincoln Crowley indicated that if insufficient progress is made in the near term, the scheduled trial date will be cancelled.[1] The court must finalize its timetable by September 10.[1]
