Beetaloo Energy, an Australian natural gas company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Halliburton, a global oilfield services giant, to jointly develop an integrated gas-to-data centre facility in Australia's Northern Territory.[1] The Beetaloo Digital project will be constructed on a 185-hectare site in the Weddell region outside Darwin, leveraging natural gas resources from the Beetaloo Basin to power hyperscale data centres and artificial intelligence infrastructure.[1] The proposed facility carries a total investment value of USD $2.6 billion, or AUD $3.7 billion.[1]
Under the partnership, Halliburton will provide upstream gas resource assessment and development services, as well as scalable modular gas power solutions to support the data centre operations.[1] Beetaloo Energy holds 28.9 million acres of leasehold rights across the Northern Territory, positioning the company to supply the necessary gas feedstock for the project.[1] CEO Alex Underwood stated: "We are committed to establishing a world-class alliance."[1] The company is also progressing toward commercialization through its Carpentaria pilot project, which is scheduled to achieve first gas sales in the fourth quarter of this year.[1]
