A British court has ordered Mitch Winehouse, the late father of singer Amy Winehouse, to pay £950,000 to two women who faced legal action over the sale of items from the musician's estate.[1] The defendants in the case were Naomi Parry, Amy Winehouse's former stylist, and her friend Catriona Gourlay.[1]
Judge Sarah Clarke ruled that Parry and Gourlay had acted without impropriety in auctioning 155 items belonging to Amy Winehouse between 2021 and 2023, generating sales totaling more than $1.4 million.[1] The judge found that Mitch Winehouse's lawsuit lacked merit and was pursued excessively, stating that the applicant had "deliberately made false and serious allegations" against the two younger women, causing damage to their reputation, career prospects, financial security, and mental and physical health.[1] The judge also determined that Mitch Winehouse "was always aware" of the auction plans.[1]
Amy Winehouse died in July 2011 at age 27 from alcohol poisoning.[1]
