Australian mining company Red Metal has initiated a pre-feasibility study for its Sybella rare earths project, located 20 kilometers south of Mount Isa in northwestern Queensland.[1] The project contains a globally significant large-scale rare earth deposit with a JORC-compliant exploration target ranging from 2.4 to 4.9 billion tonnes.[1]
Red Metal has engaged three Queensland-based consulting firms—DRA Global, AMDAD, and The Core Group—to conduct the study, focusing on mining and processing methodology design, cost assessment, and optimization.[1] The pre-feasibility study will model a base-case throughput of 20 million tonnes of ore annually, with the flexibility to scale operations down to 10 million tonnes or up to 25 million tonnes per year.[1] The company anticipates results from the study by the end of this year or early next year.[1]
