A report by the J7 major community antisemitism working group has documented that 2025 marked the most lethal year for antisemitic attacks outside Israel, with over 23,000 incidents recorded across seven countries—Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States—resulting in approximately 20 deaths [1]. This represents a 136 percent increase compared to the 9,800 incidents reported in 2022 [1]. The deadliest single incident occurred at a Hanukkah music festival near Bondi Beach in Australia, where a shooting claimed 15 lives [1].
Germany recorded the highest rate of antisemitic incidents, with 8,725 cases in 2025 and an incidence rate of 70 incidents per 1,000 Jewish residents [1]. Among these, right-wing extremism accounted for 807 incidents, left-wing extremism for 501, and Islamic extremism for 166 [1]. Antisemitism comprised 48 percent of incidents in the United Kingdom and 45 percent in the United States [1]. Josef Schuster, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, characterized the figures as representing "the ongoing normalization of antisemitism" [1].
While the overall number of incidents declined between 2024 and 2025, the current level remains substantially higher than the period before October 7, 2023 [1]. This year marks the deadliest for antisemitic attacks since the 1994 AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires [1].
