An investigation commissioned by Interlochen Center for the Arts, a prominent arts school in Michigan, has revealed 70 allegations of sexual harassment involving nearly 50 staff members spanning from the 1950s through the 2010s, with most incidents occurring before 2000.[1] The inquiry, conducted by the Sanghavi Law Office, also documented accounts from two women who reported inappropriate sexual contact with Jeffrey Epstein, the school's major donor, including an encounter that took place at a residence bearing his name.[1]
Epstein attended Interlochen as a camper in 1967 and subsequently donated more than $400,000 to the institution between 1990 and 2003.[1] Following his 2008 arrest in Florida on sex crime charges, the school removed his name from the building, which was later demolished.[1] At least two Interlochen alumni have filed allegations against Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, with one victim providing testimony against Maxwell during her 2021 trial for human trafficking; Maxwell was subsequently convicted.[1] The school has issued an apology to victims and noted that reports of abuse at Interlochen have declined significantly over the past 25 years.[1] Epstein died by suicide in prison in 2019 at age 66.[2]
