天链三号01星由中国航天科技集团五院研制[2]，主要用于为飞船、空间实验室、空间站等载人航天器提供数据中继和测控服务，同时为中、低轨道资源卫星提供数据中继和测控服务[1][2]。长征七号改运载火箭可适配直径4.2米和3.7米两种整流罩，具备一箭一星和一箭双星发射能力[2]。长征七号改已进入高密度发射常态化阶段，此次任务是该型号今年的第3次飞行[2]。
China successfully launched the Tianlian-3 01 satellite on July 29, 2026, at 7:50 p.m. Beijing time from the Wenchang Space Launch Center, using a Long March 7A carrier rocket.[1][2] The satellite entered its designated orbit as planned.[1][2]
Developed by the Fifth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the Tianlian-3 01 satellite is designed to provide data relay and tracking and control services for crewed spacecraft including space modules and space stations, as well as for medium and low-Earth-orbit resource satellites.[2] This mission marked the 659th flight of the Long March rocket family.[1][2] The Long March 7A rocket is capable of adapting to fairing diameters of 4.2 meters and 3.7 meters, enabling both single and dual satellite launch capabilities.[2] With this launch, the Long March 7A entered a phase of high-frequency launch normalization in 2026, marking its third flight of the year.[2]
