Four Chinese Coast Guard ships violated Kinmen's restricted waters on Tuesday, entering the area from the east of Liaoloo and the southwest of Damashan.[1] Taiwan's Ocean Affairs and Coast Guard Administration dispatched patrol vessels to conduct one-on-one concurrent monitoring of the intruding ships, identified as vessels numbered 14606, 14607, 14532, and 14533.[1] The Administration issued warnings via Chinese and English radio broadcasts, ordering the vessels to alter course.[1]
The Coast Guard first detected the intrusion around 2 p.m., with the Chinese vessels entering the restricted waters at approximately 3 p.m.[1] After extended monitoring efforts, the four-ship formation turned away at 5:03 p.m. and exited the area.[1] In response, the Administration stated that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People's Republic of China maintain no subordinate relationship to each other.[1] Officials characterized China's actions as part of a pattern of gray-zone tactics designed to create false claims of jurisdiction over Kinmen's waters, describing the maneuver as severely divorced from reality.[1]
