A medical team at Luohu District People's Hospital in Shenzhen successfully extracted more than 1,200 bladder stones from a 78-year-old patient through minimally invasive surgery assisted by the da Vinci surgical robot.[1] The procedure, led by Director Yang Jianggeng of the hospital's urology department, relieved the patient's severe urinary difficulties that had persisted for years.[1]
The patient's condition stemmed from severe benign prostatic hyperplasia exceeding 100 milliliters, which had triggered multiple complications including bladder calculi.[1] The stones ranged in size from rice grains to soybeans.[1] Despite the patient's significant surgical risk factors—including serious arrhythmia and an implanted cardiac pacemaker—the surgical team proceeded with the da Vinci robotic-assisted laparoscopic approach to minimize trauma.[1] Following catheter removal, the patient's urinary function returned to normal with stable vital signs.[1]
