Chengtun Gold, a subsidiary of Chinese-listed company Chengtun Mining Group, has invested $2.2 million in Golden Dragon Mining, an early-stage exploration company operating in Western Australia's Murchison region [1]. The investment involves the subscription of 11 million shares at $0.20 per share, granting Chengtun Gold a 19.89% stake at a 17.65% premium [1]. As part of the transaction, Chengtun Gold has secured the right to nominate a director to Golden Dragon's board [1].
The capital injection is intended to accelerate exploration activities at Golden Dragon's Cue gold project in the Murchison district [1]. Golden Dragon Mining's Managing Director Simon Buswell-Smith stated that "their involvement positions Golden Dragon to accelerate development activities and pursue growth opportunities" [1]. Under a two-year lock-in agreement, Chengtun Gold cannot acquire additional shares without board approval [1].
Recent drilling results from the project have demonstrated encouraging gold intersections across multiple prospects [1]. At Coodardy, May assays returned 6.5 grams per tonne gold over 12 metres, with a higher-grade 4-metre interval grading 17.6 grams per tonne, while February drilling yielded 10.82 grams per tonne gold over 8 metres [1]. The Behring Bore prospect produced 5.3 grams per tonne gold over 4 metres, with a broader 20-metre mineralized envelope returning 1.57 grams per tonne [1]. A newly identified 3-kilometre-long gold anomaly has also been documented, with soil samples registering maximum gold values of 720 parts per billion [1].
