Palestinian residents of al-Mughayyir village in the West Bank face a pattern of sustained violence from Israeli settlers, with attacks occurring on a weekly basis.[1] Within a single week, the United Nations documented 45 Palestinians injured by Israeli settlers across the West Bank, including 12 children, while attacks by settlers have caused an average of more than three injuries per day since the beginning of the year.[1]
The violence has claimed lives and resulted in severe trauma for residents. Fadi Hamdallah al-Nassan, a 17-year-old footballer, died after being shot in the leg during one such attack.[1] The Israeli government has funded the expansion of settlements in the West Bank with 19 billion shekels (6.2 billion dollars) under the current administration, while at least 231 new illegal settlement outposts have been established during the same period.[1] According to Peace Now organization, settlement farms currently control approximately 18 percent of the West Bank, displacing over 100 Palestinian communities.[1]
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu characterized the attackers as "150 juvenile delinquents" or "70 teenagers from broken families,"[1] a description that contrasts sharply with the scale and systematic nature of the violence documented by international observers. The role of Israeli military forces in these incidents remains controversial, with reports indicating their involvement alongside settler attacks on Palestinian civilian homes and property.[1]
