China's logistics sector demonstrated resilience in the first half of 2026, with the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing releasing data showing that national social logistics totaled 181.1 trillion yuan, representing a year-over-year increase of 5.1%.[1][2] This growth rate outpaced the corresponding GDP expansion of 4.7% by 0.4 percentage points.[2] The first and second quarters recorded growth rates of 6.2% and 4.4% respectively.[1][2]
The structural optimization of logistics demand became increasingly pronounced across the period. Industrial product logistics expanded by 5.4% year-over-year,[1][2] while high-end sectors demonstrated notably stronger momentum. High-technology manufacturing and digital product manufacturing grew by 13.3% and 12.3% respectively.[1][2] Import-related logistics activity grew by 2.2% overall,[2] with semiconductor manufacturing equipment imports surging 20.4% and integrated circuit imports rising 8.1%.[1][2] Conversely, crude oil imports declined by 11.4% and steel imports fell by 11.3% compared to the prior-year period.[1]
Beyond industrial logistics, complementary sectors showed steady performance. Physical goods e-commerce sales increased 4.8% year-over-year,[2] while logistics for goods and services provided by entities and individuals rose 3.8%.[2] Renewable resource logistics reached a combined 5.4% growth rate, marginally outpacing overall social logistics growth by 0.3 percentage points.[1] Production data reflected broader technological momentum, with integrated circuit output climbing 23.1% and lithium-ion battery production surging 39.3% year-over-year.[2]
