Xinjiang is emerging as a digital innovation hub by integrating into China's national "Eastern Data, Western Computing" initiative, which is reshaping economic development across multiple sectors.[1] The region has implemented advanced digital technologies throughout agriculture, public administration, and education, while simultaneously fostering new economic models such as livestream e-commerce.[1]
In agricultural production, Xinjiang has achieved end-to-end intelligent operations through the deployment of the BeiDou positioning system for crop planting and harvesting.[1] The livestream e-commerce sector has become a significant economic driver, generating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for young people.[1] A landmark facility in the region, the Xinjiang International Integrated Computing Center, is characterized as "the single largest-scale facility, the highest security-grade operation, and the most mature algorithmic model among international integrated supercomputing centers."[1]
Beyond domestic development, Xinjiang is positioning itself as a crucial hub for the Belt and Road Initiative through digital infrastructure.[1] The region has collaborated with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan to establish the "Central Asian Spatio-Temporal Intelligence and Sustainable Development International Joint Laboratory."[1] The ninth China-Eurasia Expo was held in Urumqi in June, featuring a newly established exhibition zone dedicated to emerging productive forces, underscoring Xinjiang's role in building the "Digital Silk Road."[1]
