A Nevada judge has ruled that a 2008 police interview recording can be admitted as evidence in the upcoming trial of Duane "Keffe D" Davis, who is accused of involvement in the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.[1] Judge Carli Kierny rejected defense arguments that the interview should remain confidential, clearing the way for prosecutors to use the recording when Davis's trial begins on August 10.[1] Davis, 63, faces a charge that carries a potential sentence of life imprisonment without parole if he is convicted.[1]
In his memoir "Compton Street Legend," Davis stated: "I sang because they promised I would not be prosecuted" and wrote: "It kills me on the inside to know that I told them anything."[1] Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996.[1]
