James Desborough, a 40-year-old man, has been found guilty of murdering two homeless acquaintances at Winchester Crown Court.1 Claudio Aquilino was last seen alive on April 18, 2025, while Daniel Coleman was last seen on June 3, 2025.1 Desborough dismembered and burned the bodies of both victims, with over 1,900 charred bone fragments from Aquilino's remains discovered during the investigation.1
The investigation, codenamed Operation Honeyfall, mobilized more than 700 police officers and scientists from Devon and Cornwall Police alongside resources from five additional forces.1 Beyond these two murders, Desborough was also convicted of killing fellow inmate Steven Campsten while already imprisoned for a previous murder conviction.1 The judge indicated that Desborough is unlikely ever to be released, a sentence comparable to those given to serial killers such as Rose West.1
