James Desborough, a 40-year-old man, has been found guilty of murdering two homeless acquaintances at Winchester Crown Court.[1] Claudio Aquilino was last seen alive on April 18, 2025, while Daniel Coleman was last seen on June 3, 2025.[1] Desborough dismembered and burned the bodies of both victims, with over 1,900 charred bone fragments from Aquilino's remains discovered during the investigation.[1]
The investigation, codenamed Operation Honeyfall, mobilized more than 700 police officers and scientists from Devon and Cornwall Police alongside resources from five additional forces.[1] Beyond these two murders, Desborough was also convicted of killing fellow inmate Steven Campsten while already imprisoned for a previous murder conviction.[1] The judge indicated that Desborough is unlikely ever to be released, a sentence comparable to those given to serial killers such as Rose West.[1]
