Shenzhen Bay Super Late·Shahe Waterfront Eco-Sports Park Section 4 officially opened on January 30, 2026, positioning itself as a comprehensive vitality center [1]. However, the facility has faced mounting complaints from residents regarding inadequate supporting infrastructure and safety concerns.
The park, which spans approximately 130,000 square meters and underwent renovation starting July 28, 2025, currently lacks essential amenities across multiple areas [1]. Tennis courts and the extreme sports park operate without rain shelters or shading facilities, exposing athletes to intense sun exposure [1]. The absence of proper infrastructure has already resulted in documented incidents, including children suffering from heat exhaustion and near-miss encounters between pedestrians and vehicles [1]. Additionally, public restrooms are positioned too far from activity zones, further diminishing user experience [1].
Operational challenges compound these issues. A manager from the Shahe branch of a tennis center revealed that requests to install rain shelters were met with demands for a 40 to 50 percent rent increase [1]. Park officials acknowledged that construction delays forced compromises on complementary facilities, and have since submitted proposals to relevant departments for approval to address these basic infrastructure gaps [1]. As of July 24, a field inspection confirmed that the majority of facilities operated without protection from weather or sun, with only the pickleball courts featuring rain coverings [1]. Parking is charged at 15 yuan per hour [1].
