A court has heard how one of two men accused of murdering a 57-year-old woman falsely told her daughter that the victim had gone on vacation. Donna Louise Howe disappeared on May 8, 2022, following a Mother's Day dinner.[1] Her remains were discovered approximately one month later in the Glass House Mountains region of Queensland's hinterland.[1]
Clinton Travis Oliver and Braydon Franklin deny the murder charge but have admitted to interfering with a corpse.[1] According to testimony from Howe's daughter, Tiana Jade Howe, Oliver claimed her mother was away on holiday.[1] The daughter also discovered her mother's jewelry in Oliver's bedroom.[1] On June 7, Bayley Travis O'Day found the remains during a four-wheel-drive expedition.[1] The two defendants have acknowledged transporting the body to a remote mountainous area, dousing it with petrol, and setting it alight.[1] Justice Martin Burns is presiding over the case.[1]
