Online tourist accommodation bookings in Germany through major platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com, and Expedia hit a record level in 2025.1 The total number of booked nights reached 68.3 million, representing a 13 percent increase compared to 2024 and surpassing pre-pandemic 2019 levels by more than 83 percent.1
Domestic tourists accounted for 48.5 million of the bookings, a growth exceeding 15 percent, while international visitors booked 19.8 million nights, an increase of nearly 8 percent.1 Among foreign visitors, Dutch tourists led with 2.9 million nights, followed by Polish tourists with 2.1 million nights and American tourists with 1.3 million nights.1 Within Germany, Bavaria recorded the highest number of bookings at 10.6 million nights, while Berlin attracted a notably high proportion of international guests, accounting for 67.7 percent of all bookings in that city.1 The vast majority of accommodations—94 percent of all bookings—were for small private properties with fewer than 10 beds.1
