True North Copper has released assay results from the first three drill holes of its 2026 exploration program at the Aquila discovery within the Mt Oxide project in northwestern Queensland, revealing extensive copper-cobalt-silver mineralization across the area [1]. The initial drill hole intercepted 35 meters of 0.82% copper starting at 32 meters depth, including a 9.2-meter section grading 2.21% copper and a 4-meter section returning 4.08% copper [1]. The third hole yielded 32 meters of 0.70% copper from 181 meters depth, with a notable 9.4-meter interval assaying 2.04% copper, while the second hole returned 36 meters of 0.34% copper containing a 6-meter zone of 0.75% copper [1].
The drilling results validate the company's geological model and demonstrate the project's viability as a standalone copper development opportunity [1]. The Aquila mineralized system has already defined over 1.8 kilometers of inferred strike length, with the northern Acanthis trend extending a further 250 meters and estimated to have a 500-meter strike potential [1]. Existing mineral resources in the area include the Vero deposit with 15.03 million tonnes at 1.46% copper and 10.59 grams per tonne silver, along with 9.15 million tonnes of cobalt resources grading 0.23% cobalt [1]. Andrew Mooney, General Manager of True North Copper, stated that "these diamond drilling results represent another important step in developing the Mt Oxide project into a potential standalone copper development opportunity" [1].
