France's meteorological service has forecast temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius starting Tuesday, while Spain's weather agency AEMET warns of a new heat wave lasting from Wednesday through the weekend, with highs of 39 to 42 degrees Celsius in the northeast and 39 degrees in central regions, pushing fire danger to extreme levels.[1] Experts attribute the scale of these fires directly to climate change-driven frequent and intense heat waves.[1]
The destruction across both nations has already been catastrophic.
