On July 25, China's State Administration for Market Regulation announced an administrative penalty against Ctrip Group Limited totaling 5.179 billion yuan in fines and confiscations for abuse of market dominance and monopolistic conduct.[1] The violation centered on the company's unlawful use of its dominant market position in the online travel booking sector.[1]
Ctrip issued a public statement accepting the penalty and pledging full compliance with the ruling.[1] Approximately 25 minutes after the official announcement, CEO Sun Jie distributed an all-staff email to the company.[1] In the message, Sun stated that business operations remain stable and assured employees that "you will likely receive inquiries from friends, partners, and users in the coming period."[1] The company has developed comprehensive rectification measures and committed to making them public.[1] These measures include ceasing exclusive cooperation arrangements and safeguarding hotel operators' independent business rights.[1]
