The sixth game of the WNBA Finals, a potential series-deciding matchup between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries, has been scheduled to tip off at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time on a Thursday 12. The contest is set to take place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, home court for the Dream 12. This midday start time for a championship decider has drawn sharp criticism from media outlets and fans, who view the scheduling as an embarrassment for the league 2.
Reports indicate that the unusual daytime slot was chosen because an NBA game took priority for the available broadcast windows during prime time 12. While some commentators argued that the league should instead celebrate the achievement of reaching a finals stage, others contended that the decision would infuriate supporters by devaluing the significance of the final game 12. Outlets such as The Athletic characterized the arrangement as an "embarrassment," while SFGATE noted that the solution would anger fans 2.
