On October 20, the National Data Group was officially established in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei Province. 1 This new central state-owned enterprise is dedicated to the development and utilization of data resources. 1 The group was jointly funded by the State Council, the Xiong'an New Area Management Committee, three major telecommunications operators—China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Mobile—and two power grid companies, State Grid and China Southern Power Grid. 1 Its primary mission is to connect, govern, and activate high-quality national data assets while reducing circulation costs. 1 The group aims to build an integrated chain linking data, computing power, and energy to support the digital economy and cultivate new productive forces. 1
The establishment follows the official launch of the National Data Administration in October 2023. 1 In Xiong'an, the city's computing center has aggregated over 40 billion data records and manages more than one million full-domain sensing terminals. 1 Nationally, China has already constructed over 120,000 high-quality datasets. 1
