Amber weather warnings took effect from 9 p.m. on Saturday, covering mainland Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, and the far north of England.1 The UK Met Office's Chief Forecaster Jason Kelly stated that "Storm Boelo will affect the whole of the UK this weekend, with the strongest winds and greatest potential for damaging impacts in the north."1 The Environment Agency issued 66 flood alerts and 10 flood warnings in response to the storm.1

This marked the second named storm to strike the UK within two days, following Storm Austin on Friday, which brought winds of 76 miles per hour to St. Mary's Airport in the Isles of Scilly.1
