Prosecutors in Los Angeles have moved to dismiss the criminal case against David Huerta, president of the Service Employees International Union California, which represents more than 750,000 members.1 Huerta was arrested in June 2025 while protesting the Trump administration's immigration enforcement actions in Los Angeles.1 The U.S. Attorney's Office filed a motion to drop the charges on Monday, with the case set to be completely dismissed by the end of August provided Huerta continues to comply with his bail conditions.1
