IRLAM AND CADISHEAD SAY NO TO MIGRANT HMOs"的路边横幅。 1
Greater Manchester Police have reported that criminals are recruiting vulnerable people, including children, to carry out coordinated attacks on houses in multiple occupation (HMOs).1 Since October 5, at least 46 properties across Salford, Stockport, and Tameside have been targeted with vandalism, with the damaged buildings believed to house migrants or refugees.1 Chief Inspector Marcus Noden stated: "We suspect vulnerable people are being exploited and paid to damage buildings they believe to be HMOs. Some of those being exploited are believed to be children."1
The campaign of destruction has involved smashing windows and spraying slogans such as "Go away" and "No to HMOs" on walls and doors.1 Police have made several arrests in connection with the incidents, including a 13-year-old boy, a 42-year-old man, a 46-year-old man, a 39-year-old man, and a 33-year-old man.1 Salford Council has also removed a roadside banner that read "IRLAM AND CADISHEAD SAY NO TO MIGRANT HMOs."1 Authorities have pointed to social media as a factor in fueling the criminal activity.1
